Big Spring United Lutheran Church was officially created in January 2006 when the congregations of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Newville and St. James Lutheran Church of Bloserville consolidated together. The congregation currently meets each Sunday at the previous location of St. James. However, Big Spring United Lutheran Church purchased land along route 641 in the summer of 2006, and is in the process of building a new church building.
