Dear Sisters and Brothers at BSULC, It is hard to believe that our time together is nearing an end. It seems that just last Sunday Sarah and I came to your Church and became part of your family. What makes leaving so difficult is the feeling that we are not leaving just some parish, but a place that has become our home. The lessons we have learned, the memories that we share, and the laughter we had together will always echo in our lives. Some day when we look back and consider how we came to where we are, thoughts of you will always be present. My experiences at Big Spring have been an incredible way to help prepare me for parish life as a future pastor. I have learned about the needs and hopes of a congregation and its members. In our time together we have discussed many real life issues that will continue to aid in my development as I consider ways to respond to the issues that face our church. The leadership that I have been privileged to be a part of will continue to shape and mold me a as leader in the church. I am so very thankful for the experience and opportunities that you have provided for me during my time as part of your congregation. I have been touched and blessed by your lives and devotion to our Lord, Jesus Christ. Your willingness and generosity has been especially touching. A special thank you to all of you who opened your homes and provided us with lunch and fellowship. We have enjoyed the many conversations and memorable meals which you have provided. How could we ever thank you enough for the beautiful surprise bridal shower you held for Sarah. It was a tremendous blessing, one we will never forget. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been a part of our time at Big Spring. Thank you for being such a vital part of this incredible journey. We ask for your continued prayers for this summer and the time ahead. This coming year will be very exciting. This summer I will be working as a chaplain for Diakon ministries, site still unknown. Our wedding is quickly approaching on August 15th, and the excitement continues to rise. Classes will undoubtedly prove to be insightful and engaging. Finally, my next step in the churches candidacy process will be endorsement and internship placement. You all have been a blessing in preparing us for what comes next. Peace in Christ, Joseph Murdy & Sarah Diener 2009
